WNAM MONITORING: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has confirmed his participation in the upcoming International Forum in Ashgabat, scheduled for December 12, 2025. The event will mark the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, as reported by Turkmenistan’s news state agency on Friday following a Cabinet of Ministers meeting.
The announcement was made during a meeting by Deputy Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who noted that President Pezeshkian accepted the invitation extended by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
During his visit to Iran, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation across strategic areas. Both expressed readiness to implement previously agreed projects and initiatives, reaffirming their commitment to advancing Turkmen-Iranian relations.
The talks also focused on transport connectivity, including the construction of a 242-kilometer highway from Gumdag to Etrek and the Iranian border. Both nations agreed to enhance cargo and transit flows as part of broader economic cooperation.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of close cooperation with neighboring Iran, highlighting the key role of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in implementing bilateral agreements. He instructed Deputy Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov to continue efforts to strengthen trade and economic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The government meeting also addressed a number of other issues related to state affairs.
