Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING): The Indonesian government is committed to consistently supporting global peace efforts, including in responding to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, according to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).
PCO Head Hasan Nasbi made the remarks in his office in Jakarta on Monday in response to a question about Indonesia’s stance on the Iran-Israel conflict.
“In every conflict, Indonesia’s stance is always the same: condemning military aggression, encouraging de-escalation and ceasefire, and calling for a resolution through diplomacy and international law,” he said.
He added that this remains Indonesia’s official stance, which has been voiced by President Prabowo Subianto in dealing with international conflicts.
This stance not only applies to the current Iran-Israel tensions, but also to any form of invasion or cross-border attack in the world, Nasbi said.
This is a reflection of Indonesia’s commitment to global peace and respect for international law, he added.
“Indonesia always calls for conflict de-escalation, ceasefire, and reaching a solution through interstate dialogue facilitated by international law,” he said.
Regarding the impact of the Iran-Israel conflict on world oil prices, he affirmed that the government is continuing to track global developments closely.
However, he emphasized, Indonesia’s main priority is promoting regional stability so that the conflict does not have a wider geopolitical or economic impact.
President Prabowo Subianto has reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian resistance group Hamas as well as de-escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
He emphasized Indonesia’s stance on global peace during the Leaders’ Retreat with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Singapore on Monday.
