ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Topics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan within the UN system were discussed at a meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov and the Director General UN of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Umer Siddique.
Ambassador A. Movlamov briefed on the upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan in August this year. He noted that this conference is of great importance not only for landlocked countries, but also for many other countries of the world.
Umer Siddique highly appreciated the decision of the leadership of Turkmenistan to provide its platform for holding such a significant international forum. He also emphasized that this serves as a clear evidence of the trust and respect of the international community for the constructive and neutral foreign policy of Turkmenistan. He particularly emphasized the relevance of the topic of ensuring sustainable access to the open sea, noting that this issue is of strategic importance in terms of developing sustainable logistics, trade and integration.
Ambassador A. Movlamov congratulated Pakistan on the beginning of its presidency of the UN Security Council and wished success in strengthening the role of the UN in implementing the ideas of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
In turn, U. Siddique noted that Pakistan intends to actively use this responsible mission to promote the principles of a fair, peaceful and balanced multipolar world order.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral dialogue based on mutual respect, trust and common interests, as well as on various UN platforms.
