Turkmenistan Farmers Harvest Over 1.4 Million Tons, Deliver to State

WNAM MONITORING: Turkmenistan’s farmers have achieved high yields this season, delivering 1.407 million tons of wheat to the state, Turkmenistan’s state news agency reported on Thursday.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the nation’s farmers and agricultural workers on the successful harvest.

“Each person engaged in grain farming — including leading dayhan associations, private agricultural producers and all agricultural workers — made a worthy contribution to this outstanding labor achievement of gathering a bountiful wheat harvest,” the president said in his message.

Under a decree signed by the president, the state procurement price for wheat was increased starting with the 2024 harvest. The measure aims to boost the production of high-quality grain, strengthen the country’s food security and improve the livelihoods of rural workers.

According to the report, the government provides comprehensive support to the agricultural sector. This season’s harvest campaign relied on modern John Deere and CLAAS combines, purchased at the president’s instruction.

“Once again, I sincerely congratulate our skilled grain growers and agricultural workers who worked tirelessly to grow a rich wheat harvest and achieved high results, as well as the combine operators and drivers who worked diligently to harvest and transport the grain to storage quickly and without losses, and all fellow citizens on this remarkable labor victory,” Berdimuhamedov said.

The wheat harvest campaign began on June 7, with farmers in the Ahal, Lebap and Mary velayats starting first. Farmers in the Balkan and Dashoguz provinces joined the harvest on June 14.
