Tashkent: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired an expanded meeting of the Security Council, dedicated to the results of the activities of the Armed Forces and military-administrative sectors in 2023 and tasks for the near future.

The event was attended by heads of ministries and agencies that are part of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, district commanders, heads of military administrative sectors – the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, hokims of regions and Tashkent city, as well as representatives of public organizations.

The Head of state analyzed the results of the work carried out in 2023 to strengthen the country’s defense capability and develop the Armed Forces.

In this direction, a critical assessment of the activities of ministries and agencies, and local government bodies was given, and reports from responsible leaders were heard.

Issues of improving the system of patriotic education of military personnel and youth, further development of the national army, strengthening the country’s defense capability, and increasing the efficiency of the military-administrative sectors and the defense-industrial complex were discussed.

It was emphasized that in the conditions of globalization and the growing struggle for the minds and hearts of people, especially the younger generation, the role and importance of military-patriotic education is increasing.

“Today, each of us must be a true patriot of the Motherland and educate our youth in this spirit”, the President said.

In this regard, the Head of state gave specific instructions to responsible persons to review the system of military-patriotic education. He noted the importance of involving young men and women in the process of reforms in the country, creating conditions for realizing their intellectual and creative potential.

Based on the modern infrastructure of the Armed Forces and mono-centers, work has been organized to educate young people in the spirit of military patriotism. The Head of state noted the need to expand these activities by establishing training in in-demand professions and providing support to young people through subsidies to start working.

The task was set to strengthen military-patriotic events in the media space to strengthen the civic position of young people.

Further, issues of strengthening the country’s defense power, increasing the combat effectiveness of troops, and developing military science were considered. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief set tasks for further improving the combat readiness system based on innovative and scientific approaches, introducing modern military and scientific developments in information exchange and decision-making.

It was emphasized that information and cyber security will remain important in ensuring national security.

In this context, the need to accelerate the digitalization of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, uniting all information resources of ministries and agencies into a single safe information space, was noted.

The primary tasks of organizing systemic work in the national army and among the population to increase vigilance and digital culture in cybersecurity were identified.

At the meeting of the Security Council, urgent tasks were also outlined for further development of the military-industrial complex, improving the state border security system, ensuring public safety, and increasing the efficiency of forecasting and monitoring emergencies, preventing accidents and man-made disasters.

The President emphasized that social support and care for military personnel and their families will remain essential to state policy.

Following the meeting, the President cordially congratulated all military personnel and the country’s people on the 32nd anniversary of establishing the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Defenders of Motherland Day and expressed his best wishes.
