There are many state institutions in the country but what makes the Armed Forces stand head and shoulders above the others is the fact that the system of recruitment of its workforce is done on merit and merit alone and not on the recommendatory chit of any politician or by greasing the palm of anybody. This trait is really remarkable in a society where political interference is needed for getting every job whether it is a class four Peon job or entry into the Police as a Constable or appointment as a Patwari or for getting a Senate seat.
How that is done is an open secret known to all and sundry in the country and doesn’t need any elaboration.
