Noted Muslim sage Saadi Shirazi had said that once Damascus suffered from famine to such an extent that its inhabitants forgot how to romance. Truer words were never spoken when stomach of a person is empty he forgets acts of passion and love. God forbid we may not suffer from famine though there is a lurking danger that if we fail to cut our coat according to cloth and didn’t control population explosion the way Chinese have controlled and conserve our drinking water resources before long famine might hurt us sooner than later.
POST SCRIPT
The ban clamped on the terrorist organization BLA by the US is the result of good diplomatic work done by our foreign office for which it deserves hosannas. There is no harm in forging closer bilateral ties with Washington but we should never ever tread any path at the bidding of America which is against Beijing or it create any doubt in the mind of the Kremlin that it is harmful to them. It is going to be tightrope walking requiring high level of intelligent diplomatic handling.
Let us hope this time round the decision to get rid of those Afghan nationals who are living in Pakistan will be taken to its logical conclusion and before long a strict foolproof visa regimen for those Afghanis who want to visit this country will be put into effect under which our government would know that the Afghan nationals who had entered Pakistan had returned to their country after the expiry of their visa period.
