WNAM REPORT: As Uzbekistan approaches its Independence Day, the country continues to highlight the importance of international cooperation in ensuring security and stability. In this context, we held a conversation with Dr. Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan.

During the discussion, Mr. Stolpe underlined Uzbekistan’s growing role in regional efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. He noted that UNODC highly values Uzbekistan’s initiatives aimed at strengthening border security, promoting youth resilience, and advancing regional dialogue.

The exchange reaffirmed that the partnership between Uzbekistan and the United Nations is not only vital for the country’s national development but also for the long-term stability of Central Asia as a whole.
