Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING ): Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Red and White Cabinet Economic Minister to ensure that investment and job creation are evenly distributed across Indonesia and not concentrated only in Jakarta.

President Prabowo chaired a limited meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.

Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo, when leading the meeting with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several ministers, discussed current issues in the country, including economic development and investment progress.

“In the economic sector, President Prabowo asked the economy team to emphasized the need for investments to support job creation evenly across the country, rather than being centralized in the capital.,” Wijaya said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

During the meeting, the President also called for faster repairs to damaged public facilities.

He specifically instructed Public Works Minister Dody Hanggoro to accelerate the restoration of several public facilities.

“Accelerating the repair of several public facilities that were damaged following acts of vandalism during last week’s demonstrations, so that people could resume their activities comfortably.,” said Wijaya.

On the same occasion, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Development of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono stated that funding for the recovery of damaged public infrastructure would come entirely from the central government budget.

Yudhoyono noted that his ministry calculated the riot damage at Rp950 billion (US$57.75 million) and has prepared a recovery scheme to restore public services immediately.

He added that the repair costs would be fully covered by the central government through the emergency budget allocation of the State Budget (APBN) under the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
