WNAM Monitoring: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas in Ashgabat on Wednesday, the Watan news reports.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of mutual cooperation, considering priority areas and available opportunities. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the ‘Global Gateway: Sustainable Transport Connectivity between Europe and Central Asia’ Forum, which will take place on January 29-30, 2024, in Brussels, Belgium.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also highlighted that the transport and logistics sector is one of the promising areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU and noted that Turkmenistan will actively participate in the forum’s proceedings.
Wishing the successful organization of the investment forum, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that its outcomes will contribute to transforming the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, connecting Europe and Central Asia, into a multimodal, modern, sustainable, and fast route.
Expressing gratitude for the fruitful meeting, the Vice-President of the European Commission noted that the innovative approach of the EU towards cooperation with Turkmenistan provides a solid foundation for further enhancing the effectiveness of joint activities.
