For Adults Only

In the not_too_distant past, if Films Censor Board never gave exhibition certificates to those films which in its wisdom contained bold scenes full of lewdness. The cinema owners too on their part used to write on the publicity boards of such films words like ‘For adults only’ which meant that underaged persons aren’t allowed to see them.
Such precautions have been thrown to the winds long ago. Unfettered freedom being enjoyed by the social media is not liked by intelligentsia of the country which believes it is more fatal than use of atom bomb as it gradually shakes to the bone the moral values of our society.

The standard of both Bollywood and Lollywood films has also fallen down considerably. Films like Mughle Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Devdas, Deedar, Daagh, Kirtar Singh, Gumnam, Intezzar, Anaar Kali, Tarana, Neend, Babul, Aaan, Awaara, Humlog, Leader, Madhumati, Naila, Baaji and Mother India to mention a few are no longer being produced. The films produced in the sub continent between 1913 and 1970 didn’t suffer from vulgarity. One could comfortably watch them in the company of one’ s family members. It was a treat to watch them. After 1970 there was a marked decline in them in so far, dialogues, music and acting was concerned.

Small wonder the old cine-goers badly miss the standard of acting set up by Dilip Kumar, Prithvi Raaj Madhubala, Meena Kumari and Nargis.
