ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program, Senator Rubina Khalid, met Senator Yousaf Baloch and other dignitaries at Baloch Hall, Lyari. Senator Rubina Khalid was warmly welcomed upon her arrival in Lyari. Sindh Government Spokesperson MPA Sadia Javed, MPA Shazia Karim Sanghar, and other dignitaries of the area were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants at Baloch Hall, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid said that the Government of Pakistan has introduced a new, transparent, and secure payment system under the Benazir Income Support Program, named Social Protection Wallets. Under this system, the Benazir Income Support Program is providing free SIMs to ensure that women receive their payments directly, fully, and with dignity.
She clarified that free SIMs will be provided only through BISP offices or government-designated campsites, and women must bring their own mobile phones for this purpose. Senator Rubina Khalid instructed women to immediately lodge a complaint if anyone demands extra money or attempts any deduction.
Addressing the women beneficiaries, she said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a brave and fearless leader who never bowed before oppression or injustice. She urged women to show the same courage and firmly refuse if anyone demands illegal payments.
The Chairperson further emphasized that women should ensure completion of all required documents for registration. To facilitate beneficiaries, mobile registration vans have been introduced that will visit various localities to carry out on-the-spot registrations, eliminating the need for women to visit distant offices.
Senator Rubina Khalid also stated that the Benazir Hunarmand Program has been launched, under which women, their husbands, or children can acquire vocational skills. The objective of this initiative is to enable women to stand on their own feet, become self-reliant, and access sustainable livelihood opportunities. On this occasion, she reiterated the words of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, “Skill is your asset,” highlighting that skills help eliminate unemployment and reduce dependence on others.
She further said that, in line with the vision of Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and guidance of Faryal Talpur, women beneficiaries are being provided their full entitlements with respect and dignity, which remains the hallmark of the Pakistan People’s Party. Currently, the BISP installment stands at Rs. 13,500 and will soon be increased to Rs. 14,500.
Senator Rubina Khalid informed that under the Taleemi Wazaif Program, financial assistance is being provided to children from primary to Grade 12. In addition, special programs are being implemented for the health and nutrition of pregnant women and children up to two years of age.
Chairperson BISP clarified that all authentic messages from the Benazir Income Support Program are issued only through 8171, and beneficiaries should not trust messages received from any other number. She urged women to immediately report any fraud, illegal demands, or fake messages.
In her concluding remarks, Senator Rubina Khalid said that women are aware and empowered, and should not allow themselves to be misled. She emphasized that beneficiaries must actively safeguard their rights. She added that during the previous period, certain unnecessary filters had excluded deserving families from the program, which have now been removed to ensure that more eligible households benefit from BISP support.
