WNAM REPORT: Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Wednesday praised Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for his consistent support for the Palestinian people, highlighting Jakarta’s backing for peace efforts in Gaza and the West Bank.

“Your Excellency’s support for the future of the Palestinian people is truly heartening for all of us,” Abdullah told Prabowo during a bilateral meeting at Basman Palace in Amman.

He said Prabowo was committed to advancing peace and stability in Palestine, describing the Indonesian leader’s stance as principled and steadfast.

Abdullah called Prabowo’s commitment to protecting Palestinians an act of courage, saying such leadership was vital amid ongoing tensions in the region.

“This is extremely important,” the king said, adding he looked forward to discussions on how both countries could help “our brothers” in efforts to achieve peace.

The Jordanian monarch also commended Prabowo’s leadership more broadly, saying it would be significant for major regional initiatives in the future.

“I know your country is interested in taking part,” Abdullah said, without elaborating on specific projects.

The bilateral meeting at Basman Palace was the main agenda of Prabowo’s Feb. 24–25, 2026 visit to Amman.

During the talks, Prabowo expressed concern over violence committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the West Bank.

He said incidents there risked undermining peace efforts in Gaza pursued by the Board of Peace, a body seeking to support stability in the enclave.

“We are very concerned about the incidents in the West Bank,” Prabowo said.

“We believe they could hinder whatever progress we are jointly trying to achieve in Gaza,” he added.

Earlier, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said the Jordanian government and military were ready to support Indonesia if it deploys troops to Gaza to serve with the International Stabilization Force (ISF) formed by Gaza’s Board of Peace (BoP).

After the meeting, Abdullah personally drove Prabowo, a longtime friend, to Marka Air Base for his departure.

The king escorted the Indonesian president to the foot of the aircraft before he boarded a Garuda Indonesia plane bound for Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, continuing his regional trip.
