WNAM MONITORING: A poll conducted in Israel showed that the opposition bloc gained votes following the temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran, while the Likud Party, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saw a significant drop in support.
It was predicted that if elections were held today, Netanyahu’s Likud party would only be able to win 25 seats in the 120-seat Knesset. A previous week’s poll indicated that Likud, under Netanyahu’s leadership, would only manage 28 seats.
According to the poll, if an election were held today, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s “Bennett 2026” party would win 19 seats, while Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar (Truth) Party would secure 14 seats. The left-leaning Democrats alliance led by Yair Golan would gain 11 seats, while Avigdor Liberman’s Israel Our Home Party would rise to 9 seats.
While Israel’s main opposition leader Yair Lapid’s There Is a Future Party could win 6 seats, Benny Gantz’s Blue and White Party is not expected to cross the electoral threshold according to the polls.
In total, it was projected that Netanyahu’s supporters would win 51 seats in parliament, his opponents 59, and Arab parties would secure 10 seats.
In Israel, the number of Knesset members elected by the opposition bloc has been increasing week by week, while the number of Knesset members elected by the coalition, primarily Prime Minister Netanyahu’s party, has been decreasing.
In Israel, where elections are expected to be held this October, a government needs to secure 61 seats in parliament to be formed.
