Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference: Xinhua President meets guests

CAIRO ( WNAM REPORT): President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met here on Monday with some of the participants of the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference, which will be held in Cairo from May 12 to 13.

Fu welcomed the guests, including Sattar Shareef, director general of the Iraqi News Agency (INA); Hassan Falha, director general of the Lebanese Information Ministry; and Hussein Basleem, deputy minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Yemen, noting that Xinhua attaches great importance to its coverage of Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

The head of Xinhua expressed willingness to work with media organizations and government agencies from these countries to foster vibrant media cooperation, deepen collaboration in such fields as news reporting, technological innovation, personnel exchanges, and cultural communication, and jointly tell the story of China and Arab countries working together to build a community with a shared future, as well as the story of Global South countries pursuing peace, stability, independent development, and the preservation of their civilizations, so as to contribute to enhanced understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Arab peoples and promote unity and cooperation among the Global South countries.

Shareef said that the INA highly values its friendly cooperative relations with Xinhua and greatly appreciates its professionalism and influence in global news reporting.

He added that the INA is ready to further expand cooperation with Xinhua to jointly tell the story of Iraq-China friendship, acting as a witness to and promoter of mutual understanding and closeness between the peoples of the two countries.

Xinhua has a long tradition in journalism and extensive expertise in news technology, serving as a valuable reference for Arab media, Falha said, expressing his hope that both sides would further enhance experience-sharing and deepen cooperation to achieve greater progress in Lebanon-China media relations.

For his part, Basleem also expressed appreciation for Xinhua’s longstanding and objective reporting on Yemen and regional developments, noting that Xinhua has a long history of friendly cooperation with Yemeni media organizations and enjoys a good reputation among Yemen’s media and the public.

He voiced willingness to deepen cooperation with Xinhua in areas such as professional exchanges and media technology, advancing bilateral media cooperation to a new level.

The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference is co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the League of Arab States. During the conference, participants will engage in in-depth discussions on peaceful development, diverse narratives, digital innovation, and mutual learning among civilizations.
