Islamabad ( WNAM MONITORING): President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has reaffirmed that ICCI, being the apex representative body of the business community in the federal capital, remains fully committed to safeguarding traders’ interests and resolving their issues through effective advocacy with government institutions.
He expressed these views while addressing a large delegation of the Traders Welfare Association (TWA) Moti Bazar, Bara Kahu, which visited ICCI under the leadership of its President, Qamar Abbasi, on Thursday.
Welcoming the newly elected office-bearers of the association, Sardar Tahir Mehmood congratulated them on assuming their responsibilities and emphasized that the business community is the backbone of the national economy. He said ICCI is actively engaged with relevant authorities, including CDA, MCI, district administration and other government departments, to address the challenges faced by traders.
The ICCI President stressed the importance of unity among traders and urged them to strengthen their connection with the Chamber by increasing membership and participation. He noted that a united business community can more effectively raise its voice and secure its legitimate rights.
Speaking on the occasion, President Traders Welfare Association Moti Bazar Bara Kahu, Qamar Abbasi, highlighted various civic and commercial issues confronting traders and residents of the area. He called for meetings with the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Commissioner Islamabad, Chairman CDA, MCI authorities and other concerned officials to discuss and resolve longstanding problems. He particularly highlighted the severe shortage of drinking water in Bara Kahu and demanded immediate remedial measures.
Former President ICCI and Secretary General of the United Business Group, Zafar Bakhtawari, observed that the challenges facing the business community continue to grow with the passage of time. He stressed that greater unity among traders is essential to effectively address these issues and protect business interests.
President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, Mohammad Ajmal Baloch, urged the bureaucracy to adopt a consultative approach while implementing policies affecting traders. He cautioned that the business community may be compelled to protest if its concerns continue to be ignored.
Former ICCI President Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi appreciated the unwavering support of the Bara Kahu business community for the Chamber’s Founder Group and acknowledged their consistent role in strengthening the organization.
General Secretary Traders Welfare Association Moti Bazar Bara Kahu and Executive Member ICCI, Umer Khayyam Abbasi, reiterated the traders’ commitment to supporting the Founder Group and expressed confidence that the current ICCI leadership would make every possible effort to resolve the issues facing the area.
Group Leader TWA Moti Bazar Bara Kahu, Malik Ashfaq, encouraged traders to remain focused on their businesses despite prevailing challenges and continue contributing to the country’s economic development.
In his concluding remarks, ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry assured the visiting delegation that the Chamber would always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the business community. He emphasized that traders should have complete confidence in ICCI’s commitment to pursuing the resolution of their problems at every relevant forum.
Former Senior Vice President ICCI Khalid Chaudhry conducted the proceedings of the event.
Among others, Executive Members Zulqurnain Abbasi, Rohail Anwar Butt, Chaudhry Wajid Ayub of Tarnol, along with senior ICCI members Imtiaz Abbasi, Shahid Abbasi, Zahid Daniyal, Israr Mishwani, Abid Khan, Waheed Cheema and a large number of traders and business leaders, were also present on the occasion.
