WNAM REPORT: President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 4th Runway and Additional Investments at Istanbul Airport, stated, “The 4th main runway and additional investments that we will put into service will make very important contributions to Istanbul Airport, which is a world leader in global connectivity.”
President Erdoğan said, “We have a goal of reviving the Republic of Türkiye with investments, projects, and services.”
Erdoğan stated, “Together with our nation, we have brought to life a Türkiye that is strong domestically, has a voice in its region, and is respected in the world.”
“We have made Türkiye one of the countries with the widest flight network in the world.”
President Erdoğan stated the following in his speech:
“We have made Türkiye one of the countries with the widest flight network in the world. Since 2002, we have increased the number of active airports from 26 to 58.”
In Istanbul alone, we have invested a total of 2.12 trillion Turkish Lira (at current prices) in transportation and infrastructure, including 604.4 billion Lira in aviation.
“In the first 8 months of 2026, the number of passengers traveling by air across our country exceeded 167.5 million, almost double our population.”
Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows:
“For those who have spent years doing nothing but obstructionist politics and have become accustomed to keeping their ships afloat, the sea has now run dry.”
