There is no gainsaying the fact that politics has become the most paying profession in this country today. The more money one deposits in a political party’s fund the more nearer one becomes to those who matter in it.
Once a person becomes blue eyed boy of party’s chief it Isn’t then difficult for him to get that party’s ticket for election to the assembly and once he becomes a parliamentarian he starts enjoying untold monetary benefits and tremendous political clout to get many those things done which, otherwise are difficult to do and in no time easily fatten his purse with no questions asked.
The other notable feature of politics in this country is the fact that almost all political parties are infested with dynastic politics. Barring an odd party like the JI, no other political party exists in which dynastic politics isn’t present. Many political observers liken our political system with monarchy Like a monarchy where the king manages to declare his crown prince during his life time our political system has thrown up so-called intra party election system in which the head of the political party wangles appointment of his son, brother, daughter as his heir apparent by maneuvering his or her election to number two position in the party’s hierarchy so that in case his time is up his party could be headed by his heir apparent so without naming it as a monarchy our political parties resembles very much personal fiefdoms of the heads of these parties.
It is not in the interest of any head of any political party to carry out electoral reforms that is why they have been dragging their feet on this popular public demand since long.
