WNAM REPORT: UN agencies held a briefing for foreign Ambassadors accredited in Islamabad.
The event, dedicated to the work of UN agencies in supporting the people and government of Pakistan, was co-chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Mohammed Yahya and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov.
Representatives of the UN agencies spoke about the measures they were taking to improve the current situation in the field of education, as well as the impact of the recent monsoon rains on the country’s economy and agriculture.
Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan said that Turkmenistan considers the United Nations as its strategic partner and therefore intends to further strengthen cooperation with the Community of Nations on a wide range of issues. He also emphasized that Turkmenistan calls for strengthening the role of the United Nations in ensuring peace, security and addressing the challenges faced by global community.
