WNAM MONITORING Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the Heads of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states at the Independence Palace in Astana, where the CSTO summit is to be held, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Earlier, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Astana to participate in the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
Following the official welcoming ceremony, the heads of state proceeded to the negotiating hall to continue the talks in a narrow format.
The leaders of the countries will engage in a discourse on the international and regional situation and its impact on the CSTO member states’ security. They will also focus on the outcomes of collaborative efforts and prospective avenues for further development of the collective security system.
A number of documents is expected to be signed following the summit, including a statement on the occasion of the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
