In the past every politician wangled appointment of halqa patwari, tehsildar, and SHO of his choice in his political constituency who then returned that favour to him by dancing to his tune in administrative day to day matters of his area. Now politicians play a predominant role even in the appointment of their blue eyed officers as deputy Commissioner, S P, even DIG and Commissioner. Time was when no officer was posted as DC or SP if they had not run at least two sub divisions as AC and DSP. Now nobody bothers about these niceties and key administrative positions even in the Divisional headquarters are filled on political grounds. Small wonder good governance has been blown to smithereens.
POST SCRIPT
Iran -US imbroglio is not going to go away if leaders of both these warring countries fail to mend their attitude and shun obduracy. Political disputes can only be solved on give and take basis.
