Hardly a day goes by without a U-turn of Washington in the ongoing Iran-US talks on current crises between them.
It is good that they will sit for talks again after July 15th when funeral rites of late Imam Khamenai will be over by then though political observers are keeping their fingers crossed for the moment and they are not very much optimistic about the outcome of these talks unless Iran decides to wrap up its nuclear program which is bete noire for Washington and that prospect looks a remote possibility at the moment.
POSTSCRIPT: It seems that NATO which was formed after the second world war by the US to stem the tide of communism has lost its utility for Washington and that is the precise reason why America doesn’t want to bankroll it any more. The latest statement of the American president that only America is footing its bill and many European countries like Germany’s contribution to its expenditure is a pittance. The fact of the matter is that as long as Washington needed it NATO was exploited by it to spoke the wheels of Soviet union and now when the Soviet empire has been blown to smithereens with its dismemberment America is looking the other way.
