ISLAMABAD ( WNAM MONITORING): Following the State Visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Islamabad in February 2026, the Government of Kazakhstan has allocated US$1 million to the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PAK-EEF) under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. An official ceremony, organized by the Pakistani side, was held in Islamabad and attended by H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan; Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training of Pakistan; as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and other government institutions of Pakistan. In her remarks, Ms. Sobia Sohail, Chief Executive Officer of PAK-EEF, expressed sincere appreciation to the leadership of Kazakhstan for the generous contribution. She announced the Fund’s intention to implement several educational initiatives in cooperation with higher education institutions of Kazakhstan.
These initiatives will include academic programs and professional development opportunities for Pakistani students, as well as enhanced collaboration between universities in Kazakhstan and Pakistan. Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of education, academic exchanges, human resource development, and human capital advancement. He emphasized that investment in education is an investment in the shared, peaceful, sustainable, and prosperous future of the peoples of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Minister of State Ms. Wajiha Qamar also expressed gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan and announced Pakistan’s intention to dispatch a delegation to Astana in the near future to hold detailed consultations and prepare a roadmap for implementing the agreed initiatives. At the conclusion of the ceremony, both sides agreed to facilitate direct engagement between PAK-EEF and leading universities of Kazakhstan to identify concrete areas of cooperation and advance mutually beneficial educational projects.
