Time was when Rome provided sanctuary to corrupt rulers of the world across the board. Those of them ousted from the citadel of power took a fancy to the Italian capital to spend their remaining life there. The names of such rulers which instantly come to the mind are Albanian head of state, King of Spain, King Farooq of Egypt, King Aman nullah and King Zahir Shah of Afghanistan, King Hail Salasi of Ethiopia so on and so forth. Soon Rome was replaced by London which was thronged by them and granted political asylum. Lately Arab Emirates have become favorite destination for them as no questions are asked about any amount one could take there. Small wonder the filthy rich of the world prefer to make Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi as their permanent abode. All those worldly facilities and luxury one could think of Europe or America are available in abundance in Arab sheikhdoms.
