RAWALPINDI ( WNAM REPORT ): A meeting on the topic “Growing Population and Dwindling Resources: A Moment of Reflection” proposed by President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, Ms. Sadia Rashid, was held at Hamdard Markaz Rawalpindi under the chairmanship of Speaker Hamdard Shura Imtiaz Haider.
On this occasion, President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said in his message that Pakistan is facing a rapidly growing population and limited resources, which is a moment of reflection. Basic sectors like water, food, energy, education, health and employment are already under pressure, while the continuous increase in population is making this situation more complicated. There is a need for us to seriously consider the aspects of balance between population and resources, sustainable development and national responsibility. Speaker Imtiaz Haider, while expressing his views, said that the real problem is not just population growth but the imbalance between population and resources. When resources are limited and the population grows rapidly, the pace of development slows down and extraordinary pressure comes on national resources. If we today, through wise planning, effective policies and collective consciousness, If Pakistan succeeds in striking a balance, it can not only overcome its current problems but also lay the foundation for a prosperous, strong and sustainable future for future generations.
Other members of the council included Naeem Akram Qureshi, Dr. Farhat Abbas, Salma Qasir, Tariq Shaheen, Hakeem Bashir Bhairavi, Professor Zahid Ali Qureshi, Tanveer Nusrat, Dr. Noman Ahmed Khan, Engineer Muzaffar Iqbal, Dr. Mahmood-ur-Rehman and Professor Iqbal Nasiri. These intellectuals also expressed their opinions and said that Pakistan is currently standing at a crossroads where a rapidly growing population and limited natural resources have become a serious challenge to our national development, economic stability and the future of future generations. If scientific planning, effective management, judicious use of resources, modern technology and responsible civic behavior are combined, Pakistan can not only overcome these challenges but also make its young population the greatest asset for economic development and national stability. This is the path that will turn resource scarcity into a crisis. Instead, it can transform into a new dimension of better governance and sustainable development.
