WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto urged efforts to nurture high-quality civil servants capable of building an effective bureaucracy, as Indonesia is projected to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2050.
“In the next 25 years, it is you who will run the government,” he said during the inauguration of newly graduated young civil servants from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in Sumedang District, West Java, on Wednesday.
Prabowo noted that several international projections have forecast Indonesia’s economy to surpass those of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom within the next quarter century.
With that in mind, he emphasized that key leadership positions in the central and regional governments would by then be held by today’s young civil servants, including IPDN graduates.
The president added that Republic of Indonesia has the potential to become a global economic power, supported by its large population, currently the fourth largest in the world.
Even so, he warned that ambitions and policies would fall short without bureaucrats who are capable of and committed to carrying out their duties effectively.
“You are the driving force behind governance and the bureaucracy, determining the success of future development agendas,” he told the young civil servants.
In that regard, the head of state assured them that his administration is making every effort to pave the way for young civil servants and future leaders to serve the nation and safeguard its integrity.
He also urged all IPDN graduates to remain faithful to the values enshrined in the state ideology, Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution while serving the public across the country.
Prabowo further reminded the young bureaucrats of the importance of humility and of always prioritizing the people’s interests and welfare.
