TEHRAN ( WNAM MONITORING): Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a mosque near a police station in Kohat in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, which killed and wounded dozens of people during Friday prayers.

Baqaei expressed condolences to the families of those killed as well as the government and Muslim people of neighboring Pakistan.

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled position of firmly condemning all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, the Iranian diplomat stressed that terrorist and violent acts targeting civilians and security forces have absolutely no justification.

Baqaei also stressed the need for stronger cooperation and coordination among regional countries to effectively and continuously combat terrorism.

At least 21 people, including 15 police personnel and six civilians, have been killed in the blast at a mosque in Kohat’s Police Lines during Friday prayers.
