ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan on Friday and discussed regional tension and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the talks focused particularly on enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The two ministers stressed the importance of maintaining high-level contacts to further strengthen bilateral ties and agreed to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Malaysia stood at around US$1.5 billion in FY2023-24, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pakistan’s exports to Malaysia nearly doubled during the year, rising 97.6% to US$608 million, with rice and vegetables among the major contributors.
Malaysia’s exports to Pakistan increased by 29% in 2024 to RM5.66 billion, according to Malaysia’s trade agency MATRADE.
