WNAM MONITORING: Uzbekistan’s athletes won 6 medals on the first day of the BRICS Sports Games in Kazan, Russia.
Our compatriots are achieving decent results at these competitions, which involve more than 4,500 athletes from 90 countries.
Thus, among the sambo wrestlers of Uzbekistan, Ubaydullo Muminov (-71 kg) won a gold medal, Sardor Olimjonov (-64 kg) won a silver medal, Mushtariy Jarkova (-58 kg), Ilkhom Farmonov (-58 kg) and Shukhrat Normurodov (-79 kg) – bronze medals.
Among the gymnasts, Solikha Tursunboyeva took 5th place, Jasmina Makhmudova – 6th place.
Following the first day of the games, representatives of Russia are in the lead with 5 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals. Belarus takes 2nd place with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals. Uzbekistan completes the top three with 6 medals: 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
