WNAM MONITORING: The Chairman of the Supreme Court Bakhtiyor Islamov met with the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing Balakrishnan Rajagopal, in Tashkent.
The guest was informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in the country to ensure human rights and freedoms and the interests of the people, as well as changes in the justice sector.
Mr. Rajagopal positively assessed the work carried out to ensure the right to decent housing in the country and gave recommendations based on international standards and world practice.
Mr. Islamov emphasized that Uzbekistan supports all UN efforts to ensure the rule of law and human rights, especially guarantees of citizens’ right to decent housing.
During the dialogue, it was noted that large-scale cooperation has been established between the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN. The parties also expressed confidence that the ongoing collaboration will show effective results in the future.
At the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
