WNAM MONITORING: In Elista (Republic of Kalmykia of the Russian Federation), as part of the regional forum «Peoples together through centuries» an international scientific and practical conference «Symbols of Eternity: a bridge of friendship and brotherhood between Kalmyks and Turkmens. To the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi» was held.
The event was dedicated to discussing issues of establishing the historical foundations of interaction between the Turkmen and Kalmyk peoples, as well as assessing the possibility of strengthening and expanding not only humanitarian, but also trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kalmykia.
The conference was attended by the Chairman of the People’s Khural (Parliament) of the Republic of Kalmykia A.Mikhailov, Advisor to the Head of the Republic of Kalmykia V.Salykov, deputy of the People’s Khural of the Republic of Kalmykia and part-time rector of the Kalmyk State University named after B.B.Gorodovikov B.Salaev, deputy of the People’s Khural of the Republic of Kalmykia of the XVII convocation B.Khachirov, Consul of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Astrakhan) G.Ilamanov, as well as scientists, political scientists, ecologists, representatives of universities and analytical centres of Russia and CIS countries, Turkmen students studying at the Kalmyk State University named after B.B.Gorodovikov.
In his speech, G. Ilamanov noted the humanistic message and huge contribution of the works of Magtymguly Fragi to enriching the treasury of world literature and understanding the values of the Turkmen people.
An exhibition of Turkmen arts and crafts, fine arts and jewellery was also organised as part of the event.
