WNAM MONITORING: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) website has posted a statement from the OIC’s mission of observers at the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan.
The statement notes that upon the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OIC General Secretariat dispatched a mission of observers to observe the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which took place on October 27, 2024.
The OIC team observed the electoral process at several polling stations in the capital Tashkent, and its suburbs. The team was briefed on the organization and conduct of the electoral process and the measures taken to ensure its success. The team praised the high level of organization, which is an important step towards strengthening democratic institutions.
The OIC General Secretariat congratulates the Uzbek people on the successful organization of the parliamentary elections and expresses confidence that the elected parliament will contribute to the country’s socio-economic development and the prosperity of its people.
