Integration of energy systems: Presidents of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan sign strategic agreement

On the sidelines of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) the Presidents Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the field of development and transition of green energy between the three countries. The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, described signing the agreement as a new page in the history of common striving for sustainable development. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said the signing of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership is a milestone stage of trilateral cooperation in the development of Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus. It reveals new opportunities for the integration of energy systems of three countries and building reliable corridors to deliver clean energy to the European and other markets. Kazakhstan plays a crucial role as a large transit territory. Its outcomes will contribute to developing the Middle Corridor as a green bridge to connect the three nations’ economies. He added close cooperation in this key sphere speeds up the exchange of practices and latest technologies between the three states and will contribute to further strengthening the countries’ energy security.Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev, Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Parviz Shakhbazov, Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud signed an executive program on cooperation in the field of development and transition of green energy in the presence of the Presidents.
