WNAM REPORT: A delegation from Turkmenistan headed by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov arrived in Tehran on a working visit, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
The Turkmen delegation held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Head of the Transport Industry and Development Company, Hushang Bazvand.
During the meeting, the parties noted the positive experience of cooperation, including the participation of Iranian companies in projects to build highways in Turkmenistan.
The parties reviewed the progress of implementing agreements, in particular those reached following the latest meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Mutual interest in expanding bilateral partnership was expressed.
Then a meeting took place with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad.
During the discussions, current issues and prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector were touched upon. The parties noted the existence of great opportunities for realizing the potential of the two friendly countries.
In addition, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Minister of Energy of Iran Abbas Aliabadi. The parties noted the effectiveness of the negotiations held over the past year and confirmed the two countries’ commitment to intensifying cooperation. During the meeting, the current state and prospects of cooperation in the field of electric power and rational use of water resources were discussed.
In this regard, the importance of coordinated activities between specialized institutions of Turkmenistan and Iran was highlighted.
The visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Iran continues, the Foreign Ministry noted.
