WNAM MONITORING: Spring is a time of awakening, new hopes, and joy. During this season, nature comes alive, the air fills with freshness, the streets with vibrant colors, and hearts with warmth and anticipation of change. In Uzbekistan, spring is inseparable from Navruz – an ancient holiday symbolizing renewal, harmony, and the unity of peoples.

Navruz brought a true spring atmosphere to Samarkand this year: warm sunshine, festive melodies, and public celebrations filled the city with joy and cheer. A highlight of the day was the Second International Navro‘z Regatta Festival held at the Silk Road Samarkand tourist center. The festival combined the finest traditions of this ancient holiday, reflecting the spirit of hospitality, national color, and friendship.

The event was organized by the Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT), the “Eternal City” complex within the Silk Road Samarkand tourist center, with support from the Northeast Electric Power University (NEEPU, China), Stekloplastik LLC, the Rowing & Canoe Federation of Uzbekistan, the Eriell Group of Companies, and Coca-Cola Uzbekistan.

The festival’s program offered the audience vivid emotions and unforgettable moments. Talented students of SIUT showcased their dance and vocal performances, filling the stage with energy and creativity.

Particular attention was drawn to the fashion shows, where collections from renowned brands were presented. Luxurious garments, traditional patterns, and modern design elements highlighted the unique aesthetics of Eastern fashion.

The spectacular dragon boat parade attracted thousands of enthusiastic spectators. This vibrant procession featured SIUT professors from various countries, representatives of regional organizations, and professional rowers from the Uzbekistan Rowing & Canoe Federation. The synchronized movements of the teams, the rhythmic beat of drums, splashing water, and the dynamic energy of the rowers created a genuinely mesmerizing spectacle that captivated the audience.

Today, the Navro‘z Regata is more than just a celebration of spring and sport – it has grown into a significant international event, drawing an increasing number of guests from around the world and reaffirming its global significance. The festival blends tradition and modernity, sports and culture, national identity, and international exchange, symbolizing friendship and unity.
