Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING ): Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, has emphasized the role of infrastructure as a key driver of growth and a foundation for building sustainable national economic resilience.
During a meeting with a number of media leaders in Jakarta on Friday, he underscored that his ministry is continuing to pursue economic growth through well-targeted infrastructure development to support various priority programs initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
He noted that the government is continuing to support national priority programs, such as food self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency, and downstreaming, which can bolster the economy.
According to the minister, good infrastructure can be an important driver for creating sustainable economic resilience and ensuring that Indonesia can compete at the global level.
Furthermore, well-targeted infrastructure development is also deemed essential for accelerating economic target achievement and bolstering Indonesia’s economic resilience in the long term.
Yudhoyono also emphasized the importance of sustaining Indonesia’s economic growth by maintaining people’s purchasing power even though global challenges continue to emerge.
He said that the government must continue to build optimism to maintain stability and Indonesia’s economic growth, which is targeted to reach 8 percent.
“The economy is always dynamic, however, we must also build optimism. In terms of the economy, amid the current global situation, it is also not easy for Indonesia,” he added.
He noted that even though other countries are also facing challenges, Indonesia must utilize the existing potential to optimize economic prospects amid the current challenging global conditions.
He added that the government is open to holding discussions with various parties to get inputs on improving existing economic policies.
