Nobody now believes government when it fixes any deadline for pushing Afghan nationals living illegally in Pakistan back to their country as in the past such dates had been fixed more than once but the decision was never implemented and was deferred without any cogent reason on one flimsy pretext or the other. Its latest decision was to see the back of them by the end of the current month but it seems, it too is going to suffer the same fate as the deadline in question has been pushed to the end of June 2025.
Meanwhile, no concrete step has been taken by the Interior and Foreign Ministries for putting into effect a strict visa regime like the one functioning in England and USA for foreigners visiting those countries.
We must be sure that no Afghan national enter our country without a valid visa. The powers that be must know also that the Afghans who enter Pakistan leave this country on the expiry of visa and that the visa granted to them must specify the name of the city for which it is valid as experience of hindsight reveals that once the Afghan nationals enter this country they move across the entire country without any let and hindrance and nobody knows their whereabouts .
