ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ):  Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia called on Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest including the entire gamut of the bilateral relations, and various ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, culture and tourism.
On the occasion, the Ambassador briefed the CM Punjab about the growth in bilateral relations of Ethiopia and Pakistan including an increase in delegations’ exchange with the opening of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, and commencement of the Ethiopian Airlines Operations in Pakistan.
He said the FDR Ethiopia attached great importance to Pakistan, reiterating the desire of the Government of the FDR Ethiopia to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The FDR Ethiopia is all set to host Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa from May 15 to May 17, 2025, which would be a game changer for the bilateral relations of the two countries, he noted.
He also briefed the CM Punjab about the homegrown economic reforms undertaken by the visionary leader H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the FDR Ethiopia, in two phases which have created a conducive environment for investors as well as generated extraordinary business, trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
He appreciated the people-centric initiative taken by H.E. Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Punjab to transform the living standards of the residents of Punjab.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister welcomed the launch of the Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan which has added a new chapter in the bilateral relations of Pakistan and Ethiopia.
She expressed Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening its relations with Africa including Ethiopia which has achieved great economic progress under the leadership of H.E. PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
The CM Punjab also appreciated the Green Legacy Initiative undertaken by H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed for climate restoration and food security through reforestation and afforestation efforts.
She assured the Ambassador of all possible support for further strengthening the bilateral relations of Ethiopia and Pakistan.
