Tashkent ( WNAM REPORT ): As part of a working visit by a delegation consisting of leadership from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and domestic entrepreneurs, a series of economic events were held in Pakistan.
Organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, business forums were held in cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. These events served as a platform for strengthening mutually beneficial ties between entrepreneurs of both countries and fostering conditions for the implementation of new joint projects.
The business forum in Rawalpindi brought together Pakistani entrepreneurs representing agriculture, leather processing, pharmaceuticals, tourism, construction, logistics, and trade.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shavkat Usman highlighted the current state of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and emphasized the pivotal role of chambers of commerce in promoting bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Akobir Tukhtayev, gave a presentation outlining Uzbekistan’s favorable investment environment and the current climate for foreign investors.
During the negotiations, participants proposed the establishment of a joint Uzbek-Pakistani Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the organization of sectoral delegation exchanges by the end of the year.
At the business forum in Islamabad, Chairman of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nasir Qureshi, stressed the importance of continuous dialogue between the business communities of both nations and the need to expand cooperation in producing import-substituting and export-oriented goods.
The Uzbek side presented opportunities for launching joint ventures in Uzbekistan and outlined prospects in digital trade.
Preliminary agreements were reached during B2B meetings on joint projects in the textile and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as in the processing of wool and leather.
Additionally, both sides agreed to organize business missions from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce to Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, and Bukhara regions later this year.
