Tashkent( WNAM MONITORING ): As part of the expanding Uzbek-Pakistani trade and economic cooperation, an official delegation of Uzbek entrepreneurs paid a visit to Karachi Port, the largest maritime hub of Pakistan. The visit was initiated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the country’s Embassy in Islamabad.
The primary objective of the visit was to explore opportunities for expanding export channels for Uzbek goods to international markets via the logistical capacities of Karachi Port. The delegation also aimed to optimize supply chains, reduce costs, and develop new mechanisms for cooperation.
As the largest logistics center in South Asia, Karachi Port plays a vital role in providing access to markets in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. Its throughput capacity and developed infrastructure make it a strategically important node for Uzbekistan, which seeks to diversify its export routes and enhance the competitiveness of its goods.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation held in-depth discussions with the port administration and representatives of leading logistics companies. They received detailed information about the port’s capabilities, including its infrastructure, digital services, container fleet, storage conditions, customs clearance procedures, and cargo tracking systems.
One of the key proposals presented during the talks was the creation of a dedicated logistics hub or warehouse terminal within the port, exclusively for Uzbek products. Such a facility could become a crucial link in the fast and efficient delivery chain of Uzbek goods to global markets, ensuring not only expedited processing but also significant cost savings.
The Pakistani side expressed strong interest in Uzbek exports, particularly in sectors such as textiles, leather, processed fruits and vegetables, chemicals, and construction materials. It was noted that the quality and pricing of Uzbek products enable them to compete effectively on international markets.
The initiatives discussed during the visit are expected to serve as a foundation for concrete steps toward establishing a stable and mutually beneficial logistics platform. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan has already announced the start of systematic work in this direction, opening up tangible prospects for domestic products to access new export frontiers.
