WNAM MONITORING: Tech billionaire Elon Musk announced on Saturday that the “America Party” was formed, a day after he set up a poll on X asking the public if they wanted a new political party.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!” said Musk on X.
He argued that the US could not be considered a “democracy” because “when it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system.”
“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party system!” Musk wrote, accompanying Friday’s poll.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” he said a day after more than 1.2 million people voted 65.4% in favor of the “America Party.”
His posts come following the US House of Representatives narrowly passing a sweeping tax cut and spending bill by a vote of 218-214 on Thursday, sending it to President Trump for his signature.
Last month, the US president and the world’s richest man exchanged accusations just days after they appeared together at the White House, and Trump thanked Musk for his brief stint in the US government.
Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aimed to reduce government spending, until late May.
