There is an age old adage that behind every big fortune there is a crime. Even a grade twenty two officer and other persons earning a modest income through hard work in various professions don’t make that much money which could enable them to live in palace like houses or farm houses and sport cars having prohibitive cost. Only those persons can afford these luxuries if they are earning pelf through illegal means like indulging in smuggling, black marketing and hoarding of consumer goods or they are those professionals , medics, engineers and lawyers who are selling their expertise at a very high fee to the persons needing their services. Most of such people also don’t pay income and wealth taxes which they are legally bound to pay and hood wink the tax collecting authority through legal hair splitting.

The govt was right in restricting travel of pilgrims to Iran and Iraq by air only because road journey to these countries has become prone to killings at the hands of saboteurs aimed at stirring trouble in Pakistan as well as in Iran and Iraq so there was no need on the part of some sections of society to raise an hullabaloo over it. Protection of human lives was more important than any other thing and it is good that saner counsel now prevails and those who were agitating this issue have temporarily called off their strike over it realising the gravity of the situation.

After the demise of Pandat Nehru Indian Congress party was bereft of a political leader of his stature and his successors. Indra Gandhi and Rajiv were no patch on him. Now after a long hiatus, in Raul Gandhi the congresites see a hope that he might put their party on road to renaissance in Indian politics though his rise in rankings is the result of umpteen blunders that Modi has been making in the foreign and domestic policies of India rather than any other factor.

It seems that the friendship between Tel Aviv and New Delhi has been deepening by the day Israel has used India manufactured weaponry against Muslim countries in recent war. Was that not sufficient to open the eyes of those Muslims countries of middle east who in their quest to forge friendship with India have given permission to Modi to construct Hindu temples on their land.
