Debonair Dharmendra joined the great majority at the ripe age of 89 the other day thus leaving millions of his film fans sad. He ruled the hearts of millions of cine-goers in the subcontinent with his superb performance in the world of celluloid.
In one of his last interviews he had said Dilip Kumar was his favourite film star and role model, the like of Dilip was not seen by the film industry of the sub continent during the past one hundred years. Dharmender can be included in the list of those film heroes who had a very charming personality like Devanand, Gul Hameed, Santosh Kumar, Darpan, Waheed Murad, Vinod Khanna and, Feroze Khan to mention a few in the prime of his film career he had fallen in love with Hema Malini and in order to marry her had to shun his religion and embrace Islam as second marriage in the presence of a wife is forbidden in Hinduism. Hemai Malini has also been a very attractive film heroine of her time. His two sons are also heroes of Bollywood.
