ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Chairman Pakistan Alternative Energy Association, Asif Javed, has stated that ambiguity and uncertainty in government policies regarding alternative energy are destroying businesses. He said that the government’s shift from the net metering policy to the net billing system is causing severe concern and uncertainty among consumers.
In the prevailing economic conditions, amid rising electricity tariffs, solar energy has emerged as the only viable alternative, and sudden changes in policy are undermining public confidence. He demanded that the government review this decision and, after taking all stakeholders into confidence, formulate a policy that ensures both the promotion of renewable energy and the protection of consumers’ interests.
