Gul Hameed was very handsome and very good looking person perhaps, one of the most charming few film heroes of Indo Pak film industry. He joined the world of celluloid when it was era of silent movies. Talkies had not yet started in the sub continent. He had worked both in the silent and talkies and made a name for himself in double quick time. Age wasn’t on his side. Born in 1905 in village Pir Piae near Nowshera he died in 1931 of throat cancer and lies burried in Aman garh near Nowshera .Gul Hameed had married Patience cooper an anglo Indian actress who changed her name to Sabira after her wedlock with Gul Hameed.
Film critics believe that very few film heroes were as handsome as Gul Hameed was . The film prints of his movies mostly made in 1930’s must be lying in the film archives of Bollywood or in Calcutta. It is a pity that it didn’t occur to anyone related to Lollywood to dig them out and make a documentary on Gul Hameed who had joined Bollywood much before other actors belonging to KPK.
