A smuggler from FATA had been sentenced by a martial l law court in Peshawar to ten lac rupees as fine and ten lashes. A tribal elder approached an uncle of Yahya Khan living in Peshawar with the request to accompany him to President House Islamabad and request Yahya Khan to tell the said martial law court officer to exempt the smuggler from lashes and instead increase fine imposed on him. General Yahya refused to accede to his uncle’s request.
