Islamabad: (WNAM REPORT): The enduring relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to stand as a model of strategic partnership and brotherhood. The recent interaction between UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reflects the depth of ties rooted in mutual respect and long-standing cooperation.

In recent years, however, a perception gap has emerged within segments of Pakistani media, where the UAE’s consistent support is not always fully highlighted. A closer look reveals that the UAE has repeatedly extended crucial assistance to Pakistan across economic, humanitarian, and development sectors.

During periods of financial strain, the UAE has played a stabilizing role by rolling over multi-billion-dollar deposits, including significant support in 2026, helping Pakistan maintain foreign exchange reserves and meet international financial commitments, including those linked to the International Monetary Fund.

Beyond economic assistance, the UAE has made major contributions in healthcare and humanitarian efforts. Through initiatives like the Emirates Polio Campaign, millions of vaccine doses have been administered to children across high-risk regions, supporting Pakistan’s fight against polio.

The UAE has also stood by Pakistan during times of crisis. During the devastating floods of 2010 and 2022, it swiftly provided relief through air bridges, delivering food, medical supplies, and shelter to affected communities.

In healthcare, the UAE has helped establish and support key institutions across Pakistan, improving access to quality medical services in underserved areas. These include specialized hospitals and medical colleges that continue to serve thousands of patients.

The partnership extends to education as well. Through initiatives such as Dubai Cares, tens of thousands of children—especially girls—have gained access to education, while vocational institutions are equipping youth with modern skills.

Infrastructure and public welfare have also benefited from UAE support, including investments in clean water projects, roads, and energy initiatives aimed at addressing Pakistan’s power challenges.

More recently, collaboration with DP World is helping modernize Pakistan’s rail freight system, improving connectivity and boosting trade efficiency.

The UAE’s diplomatic missions in Pakistan continue to provide vital consular services, particularly in emergencies, further strengthening people-to-people ties.

At a time when global narratives can be selective, experts stress the importance of acknowledging partners who have consistently supported Pakistan. The Pakistan-UAE relationship stands out as a bond built not only on diplomacy but also on tangible contributions and shared values.
