COMSATS-ANSO-UCAS, China organise training on AI, Engineering & Climate Change

WNAM REPORT: Supported by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO), 11th Term of ANSO-BIDI School, an 8-week long online training program, commenced today in collaboration with Centre for Environmental Economics, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CEE-UCAS), and members of the ANSO Belt & Road International Innovation Development Institute Network (ANSO-BIDI Institute Network).

The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), a member of ANSO and ANSO-BIDI Institute Network, is an active collaborator. The Executive Director COMSATS is a member of ANSO Governing Board since 2023 and has been re-elected for another term in 2025.

The past ten terms of ANSO-BIDI School engaged over 1200 trainees, out of which 580 trainees were nominated by COMSATS primarily belonging to its Centres of Excellence and relevant scientific institutions in Member States. For the current term, COMSATS nominated 50 trainees belonging to China, Iran, Jordan, Jamaica, Nigeria, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Barbados and Dominican Republic.

The Executive Director COMSATS, Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, shared his thoughts at the opening ceremony of the training program. He stated that over past few years, the ANSO-BIDI School has become a highly beneficial forum for learning and exchange. He expressed pleasure on COMSATS’ collaboration for the 11th term of the training.

COMSATS assists Member States towards sustainable development, organizes capacity-building activities, promotes R&D collaboration and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and technology. COMSATS recent initiatives are strategically focused on high-impact fields, including AI, TeleHealth, EV, NanoTech, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Precision Agriculture, and Renewable Energy.

ANSO-BIDI training is covering key thematic areas, including eco-environment, climate change and sustainable development; AI and computer engineering; green finance; sustainable supply chains; and risk management. Significantly, distinguished experts from leading institutions from across the world, including the USA, Canada, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and Australia will impart training.
