WEB DESK: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday met with Robert Floyd, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

Warmly welcoming the guest to the ancient and hospitable land of Turkmenistan, the President expressed confidence that the meetings during this visit would strengthen the longstanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the head of the major international organization praised Turkmenistan’s balanced foreign policy, which, with its status of permanent positive neutrality, makes a significant contribution to global efforts for peace and security.

Taking the opportunity, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, the initiator and inspirer of Turkmenistan’s peaceful policy, which has earned the country high international standing. He also extended wishes of happiness, well-being, and new successes to all Turkmen citizens.

During the subsequent conversation, held in a businesslike and constructive manner, the current state and prospects for the development of traditional partnerships were discussed, reflecting mutual interests.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that by adhering to principles of positive neutrality recognized by the international community, Turkmenistan continuously expands relations with all interested states and reputable international organizations.

In this regard, it was emphasized that developing comprehensive strategic cooperation with major international organizations, including the UN and its subdivisions, is a priority of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.

“Turkmenistan fully supports international community initiatives under the UN’s auspices to ensure peace, security, and sustainable development. Our country advocates for disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and ensuring universal nuclear safety,” said the President.

During the conversation, it was noted that Turkmenistan, as a participant in several key treaties – the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapon Tests, and the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia – consistently fulfills its obligations.

Discussing bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO, the interlocutors acknowledged the productive nature of established cooperation in seismology and monitoring.

“We are committed to ensuring peace and global security on the planet and are ready to provide comprehensive support in developing cooperation with the CTBTO,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized at the end of the meeting, wishing Executive Secretary Robert Floyd good health and success in his work.
