WNAM REPORT: In Uzbekistan, women are provided with all possible support and wide opportunities are created for their education, employment, enhancement of social and political activity, and realization of creative abilities.
The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting of senators with the chairpersons of the Qizlarjon Club of higher education institutions and the Women’s Advisory Council.
The senators informed about the essence and significance of the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years and the priority directions of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. The importance of the new norms of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, increasing the socio-political activity of women, ensuring gender equality and protecting those in difficult social conditions, strengthening family values were discussed.
It was noted that women’s social protection in Uzbekistan had been raised to the level of state policy.
Parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan are being held for the first time in accordance with the renewed Constitution and changes in electoral legislation. According to the Election Code, at least 40 percent of candidates, or two out of five, must be women.
At the meeting, information was provided on preparations for the elections and pre-election campaigning.
